At Riverside Nursery School we aim to provide the highest quality care and education for all children who attend.
The preschool is led by a qualified primary school teacher with many years' experience, supported by an excellent team of early years practitioners.
Riverside Nursery School is based at the Great Amwell Scouts' HQ situated between Ware, Great Amwell and Hertford. The large hall is modern, bright and spacious, giving us great flexibilty with the layout of activities and allowing plenty of room for the children to play and learn. Outside there is an enclosed play area for the children to use throughout the session. We also have use of the large field to the rear as well as direct access to Post Wood, perfect for woodland walks, story telling or hunting for minibeasts! There is a large car park to the front of the hall.
Our curriculum follows the EYFS statutory framework and is planned carefully to provide a wide range of exciting play opportunities, helping to develop basic skills and knowledge necessary for a smooth transition into school.
Staff teach children in small groups and spend much of their time working with the children on a one to one basis. This ensures that activities are tailored to meet each child's individual needs and provides opportunities for children to be supported and extended where appropriate. We assess each child regularly so that we can quickly identify areas where they need extra help or show particular strengths which can be encouraged.
We welcome the active involvement of all our parents and carers. Together, we can create a happy, nurturing, place of learning and fun for our children.
We are currently looking into the possibility of running additional afternoon sessions and an after-school club. If this is something you would be interested in please let us know!
Please contact us to find out more or to apply for a place for your child.
Below are a few comments from some of our past parents...
"This was [my child's] first childcare setting away from me so was very anxious to start with, she settled amazingly and has grown and developed so much since starting Riverside. Excellent staff, great value for money, with flexibility to add extra sessions, breakfast club and lunch club. Great activities and learning programme. Excellent assistance with potty training too!! I couldn't be happier with the care we received at Riverside. Excellent all round, will miss them dearly"
"[My child] has loved her time at Riverside Nursery. I have always felt comfortable leaving [my child]. She loves all the activities available and enjoys bringing home all the art work she makes during her nursery sessions. I would definitely recommend Riverside Nursery to other parents."
"[My child] has really enjoyed her time at nursery. She has progressed well and loves the staff there."
"Even though [my child] has only been with you a few weeks, you have made him very comfortable and it's nice to know he's in such lovely hands."
Riverside Nursery School is proud to support the work of the CCAA, a charity offering support to families of children with JIA, a childhood form of arthritis.
All the 'cashback' received from uniform orders will be donated to the CCAA along with funds raised at charity events which take place over the year.
